About
A quiet organisation with a demanding mission.
The Way Shalom is a Germany-based nonprofit platform working in collaboration with independent partners across Europe, Israel and North America. Founded in Germany, we build human infrastructure between institutions and between people through direct, immersive encounters in Israel.
Who We Are
Mission, position and conviction
Mission
Mission
To strengthen understanding between societies through meaningful people-to-people encounters - reducing prejudice, building trust and contributing to the democratic resilience of the societies in which we work.
Position
Position
We are a pro-democratic, pluralistic and non-partisan organisation. We believe that open dialogue is a precondition for a healthy society.
We do not prescribe political conclusions - we create the conditions in which people can encounter different perspectives and form their own informed views.
In an era of moral simplification on campuses and in public life, we work to restore space for complexity, disagreement and genuine encounter.
Closing Statement
Closing Statement
The Way Shalom exists because democracies cannot overcome hatred through condemnation alone. They must create the conditions in which hatred struggles to take root. We help create those conditions person by person because people change through people.
How We Are Organised
Structure, partners and governance
Our Global Partners
A network of independent partners.
The Way Shalom collaborates with independent nonprofit partners across different regions. We share a common vision and coordinate strategies and projects while remaining legally, organisationally and financially independent.
Israel
The Way Project
The Way Project facilitates the development of the network's shared global strategy and coordinates operational planning and partnerships in Israel. Each participating organisation independently decides whether and how to implement shared strategies through its own governing bodies.
North America
The Amity Way
The Amity Way is an independent nonprofit partner leading the development of the initiative in North America. Its role includes cultivating partnerships, developing its governing board, expanding community engagement and advancing the network's shared mission throughout the region.
Our Commitment to Independence
The Way Shalom is an independently governed association based in Germany. Each partner is separately constituted and governed under the laws of its respective country and retains full responsibility for its own governance, finances, operations and legal obligations. No partner has the authority to legally or financially bind another.
